Patients aren’t always able to make it to the dentist’s office for advice. They may not have the time or have to stay at home or work. Whatever the reason, teledentistry provides a workable and convenient alternative.

What is Teledentistry?

Teledentistry makes it possible for patients to speak to the dentist virtually. It’s a modern twist on video conferencing. The patient makes an appointment as usual, but instead of heading out to the dentist, they video call from their current location.

Patients book their appointment by clicking on the link at the bottom left-hand side of the website. Those who are less web-savvy can call (720) 730-9459 for assistance. The patient then chooses the most convenient available time slot.

The service works through a site called Doxy.me, which facilitates secure video and audio conferencing. High-level encryption protects your privacy.

Patients are not required to register on or to pay any fees to Doxy. The practice pays for the subscription.

The service is not a replacement for a dental examination, but there are times when patients don’t need a full dental exam to reach a resolution. Patients with mouth ulcers, denture issues, and so forth, will benefit greatly from this service.

Dr. Jorge Rojas offers teledentistry from Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

How does Teledentistry Work?

When it’s time for the appointment, the patient checks in, and Dr. Rojas opens the video chat. The rest of the procedure is much like using Skype.

Patients must have a stable internet connection. They should be able to make and receive video calls. Some dentists will offer the option of audio calls instead.

The patient explains what their symptoms are or asks for advice. The doctor will then consider what the symptoms mean and discuss the patient’s options from there.

If there’s a simple solution, the doctor will provide advice or directions. The doctor can do more than suggest pain relief options, and patients can ask for information about any dental issue they experience. If they’d like to, patients can also ask for advice on dental hygiene.

The doctor will provide educational sessions, too. New patients are welcome to use this opportunity as a way to meet their dentist.

If the situation classifies as an emergency, the doctor will advise the patient to visit the practice.

Dr. Rojas offers a special rate for these consultations (the practice will advise you about the rate before your appointment).
